Anand D. Ghaisas

I joined Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) in1979.

While my initial activities at HBCSE centred on developing age appropriate illustrations for books produced at the Centre, my wide interests soon saw me contributing to several of the Centre's activities. At present these include addressing school students and teachers on Astronomy, activities in Mathematics, hands-on Science and photography. I had a passion for popularising science among school students. I had written scripts for performances on Television (Balchitravani) and All India Radio for popularising science.

I authored popular science columns titled " Khel Khelooya Gamatiche", "Kutuhal" and "Gammat Ganit" in "Sakal", a Marathi daily. I am authoring a marathi popular column named "Ruchkar Vidnyan" presently in the MVP's Marathi Vidnyan Patrika. I translated and adapted into Marathi a book in English on the life of "Jorge Eastman Kodak and Kodak Company" published by Orient Longman.

I am an active member and office bearer of several organisations: the amateur astronomy group, "Khagol Mandal" at Mumbai, "Kavya-Rasik Mandal", a group of poets at Dombivli, and an amateur drama group, "Theatre Activities" at Dombivli.

Presently I am associated with Prof. M. N. Vahia in the National Astronomy Olympiad Activity.
