33^rd IChO Nodal Organising Institution

Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research), Mumbai is the nodal organising institution for the 33rd International Chemistry Olympiad.

Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) is a National Centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) devoted to research and development in science and mathematics education. Its main goals are to promote equity and excellence in science and mathematics education in India from primary to introductory college levels. HBCSE is the nodal centre of the country for the National Olympiad Programme in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. It collaborates with the Indian Association of Physics Teachers, and the Indian Association of Chemistry Teachers (the latter being formally launched this year) in the first two stages of selection of students for National Olympiads. HBCSE is also involved in the Mathematics Olympiad Programme. It organises Training Camps in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics every summer for selecting teams that represent India at the International Olympiads.

The Chemistry Olympiad Training Camp in the summer of 2001 for the 33rd IChO will not be organised by HBCSE, since HBCSE is the organising institution of the 33rd IChO. A separate National Chemistry Olympiad Committee has been formed for selection and training of the Indian team for the 33rd IChO.
