The project was started by  Inter University Accelerator Centre <http://www.iuac.ernet.in/> , with the objectiveof improving the laboratory facilities at Indian Universities, and growing with the support of the user community. The hardware design is freely available. The project is based on Free Software tools and the code is distributed under GNU GPL .
