Read about the following AI programs which were written in the 1960s and early 1970s:

I. ELIZA by J. Weizenbaum

II. BASEBALL by B.F. Green and others

III. SHRDLU by T. Winograd.

For each of these programs answer the following:

a. What do you think was the author's purpose in writing this program?

b. Make up a few questions/ statements that you might input to the program and guess the probable response(s) you might get.

c. Suggest some questions/ statements that you might input to the program to find out whether or not it was human.

(Your questions should fall within the domain of the program.)

d. What are the strengths of this program in relation to the other two? What are its weaknesses?

e. What might be done to enhance the performance of this program (your suggestions need not be revolutionary - it is okay if they lead to only incremental improvement).
